Oh, Rupert! You are a victim of Google's high-ntensity
search functions. I am not Walter Blum, a retired famous
jockey, who is actually a DEAD famous jockey. I am in fact,a
very much alive retired journalist and novelist. So there!!!

God! a vocal update. The only thing I want coming out of
speakers is good music. Even Joanna Lumley would be an
imposition (although I might spring for Judi Dench.).
Anyway, the question I have about AVG or Avast is this: Do
they operate in the background, spotting and catching
(possibly quarantining) viruses? Or do I have to run a scan
to discover that there are nasties living on my computer?
McAfee and
Norton function in the background and are always on the
alert. What's the deal with the freebies?

Walter
