Woops you may have really damaged it beyond repair. You could try the cable
contacts again incase they are not seated or pins bent etcetera but I do not
hold out to much hope. 



Normally the have a tiny hole that you can insert an unfolded paper clip
through to release the carriage.

Tonight I put a DVD in the drive and for some stupid reason it got 

Stuck. I mean it wouldn't eject. I tried everything until finally in 

Desperation I took it out and tried to manually pry it open. No luck. 

I gave up, put it back in and booted up. Well, now the disk ejects. 

Yeah! —EXCEPT, now Windows doesn't see the drive. The light on the 

Drive is on, the drawer opens and closes. I'm sure I plugged the cable 

In. How do I get my drive back?
