I have another "headache" that is a bit more difficult to solve. I have several functions on my control panel that I can no longer access. My computer setup is as follows: Windows XP home SP3, Compaq computer with AMD 3400 processor, Commodo firewall(current version updated), AVG 8.0 antivirus, 7.0 Internet Explorer. My problem(s) >From the control panel window or from applications I can not access the following -Internet Options - unable to delete cookies, temp files, history, etc -System - will not open at all -Windows Firewall - will not open at all -Wireless Netsetup - will not open at all Error message is ...cpl.dll. Access denied or .....cpl.dll is locked History All of this started after AVG detected a trojan (generic11 and generic07). AVG logged that the files had been healed or deleted. I have been discovering these problems for a few weeks now and the Microsoft site lead me to the same registry key "Hkey_current_ user/software/ policies/ microsoft/ internet explorer/restrictio ns" which does not seem to exist in my registry. The instructions are to delete the NObrowser key, which also does not exist. All of these non working dll files are in C:/windows/system32 . I have reloaded them with no success. I am afraid to start mucking in the registry, that is not my strong suite. Any hints here. Thanks again.
