I was locked out of my system years ago & my friend came over(this is way before I knew anything about pc's) & she partitioned of my hd & installed XP in another partitian & was able to get into the other side that had locked up & get my info.Once we were done we put everything on cd's & reinstalled into one OS. If you think this might help I can find out exactly what she did for you.Let me know. Hi: The simplest recovery, to my opinion, is to do the simplest thing. That is to run a "Windows In-place reinstallation". Never had it fail!. Goto the MicrosoftSupport site and search that Phrase for step by step instructions. You need an XP installation CD or a loaner, but works everytime. Also, XP can be reinstalled on the same drive as an other version of XP. You can have two copies of XP running on the SAME drive or partition. That is NOT normally recommended but it will allow one to extract their data. Also, DOS is probably much easier to use than Linux, and more people are familiar with DOS, and DOS will allow one to retrieve all his Data. If you can't have access to an XP installation CD because all you have is an OEM recovery Setup, Then you can create one of your own from the OEM Recovery setup CD. You can use another computer, your OEM Recovery Setup CD, and a free program called "nLite" to create an XP installation CD. VERY EASY.
