Yep, it  does. I followed Donk's directions and there is the option of
turning  System Restore on or off for each drive. I turned it off for
D, left in on  for C. Reformatted D--again. System Volume Information
folder is still on D  drive though. Now it says it was created on
9/28/08 (don't know why). I  don't much care anymore, except that it's
now taking up about 1 GB (or  something is) on that drive. There's
nothing else on it. 
 
 
Hi:
System Restore ONLY works for SYSTEM files.  Does not work for  DATA.  Since 
most partitions, other than "C",  do not contain any  System files,  it does 
not seem prudent to reserve space in those partition  for something that will 
never appear.  What say?   Bye
