If you are talking about the factory Recover thingy, it is usually a  
partition and often hidden. The strategy didn't last long and I think  
that it may have varied among mfgs. If it was an hidden partition it  
would not have gotten formatted or deleted unless you wanted to.  
Although I did accidentally delete the one on my brothers computer. So  
I called HP and they sent me a recovery disk.
