The difference between SATA and IDE is essentially, let's see there  
were 4 items. A bit of speed improvement, although someone followed  
the original article and said it wasn't as great as listed in the  
original article. Also the thin cable doesn't block air flow like the  
40 pin IDE cables. And they are hot swappable. I'm not about to be  
opening up my machine to unplug the hard drive. And no jumpers  
necessary when adding hard drives. But who needs another drive when  
minimum size seems to be 250 Gigabytes? :-)

So I'd say, if you have a small drive and want a larger one, buy a new  
SATA drive. If you are satisfied with the size of your drive, don't  
rush into buying a new one.
