There is a simple solution to your problem, if you do not have a floppy drive in your machine go into the setup and turn it off, so that you bios doesn't search for it. the same goes for the hard drive 1, which would be the second hard drive in your computer case

If the computer is over 3 or 4 years old your CMOS battery might be dieing. Next time you could try pressing F2 to enter setup. Once there, navigate around for an option to "load default settings", or something similar to that. Then save the settings and exit Setup. If it boots without the error, then you likely need a new CMOS battery. They can be bought at any WalMart or RadioShack and usually are easy to pop a new one in. The random blue screen might be a totally different problem. It could be caused by a lot of things, including a malfunctioning Hard Drive. You might want to try running a checkdisk on the drive (is it XP? Start, My Computer, right-click your C: drive and choose Properties. Then click the Tools tab, and the Check Now button. Tell it to auto-fix any errors. It can take quite a while to finnish.) In fact, you should run the checkdisk in Safe Mode. Keep tapping the F8 key during boot and you'll come to a boot menu. Choose Safe Mode. At the Safe Mode desktop follow the above instructions to run Checkdisk. Good luck, Donk gemcomxz wrote: > Hello, I am a new member and would like assistance with a computer > error problem I have been getting on my Dell Computer for some time > and have been unable to figure out how to correct it. > > Here is the error message I receive at start-up: > > Blue screen on my computer > "Diskette Drive 0 seek failure.
