While both you and Ray will it seems keep arguing most people who use IM or Skype as well as the www these days need a headset with a microphone attached. To switch between headset and desktop speakers with a desk microphone you would need a splitter switch, you simply could not do it with a M/F jack plug unless you can tell me that you switch the DT speakers and and desktop microphone off, or vice versa and this just gives you s split signal with no ability to switch.
I use a KVM switch to use three computers through one monitor, one mouse and keyboard. So that switch just transfers the signal, does not split it in three. So to dose the full sound splitter, with switch, it transfer sound and speech from one set of speakers and microphone to the other. I have both these set up so that sound and vision are just two switches; no reaching out to unplug or turn on off; just two switches. I also got that the OP wanted to plug his headset and speakers in at the same time. Also when you are using a splitter box you only have one source it just means you can plug more Items into it that sound can come out of. Also I do know that some headsets do have USB plug and not a jack. And the fact that the op wants to plug both in at the same time indicate that he has a jack plug. I am sorry I keep bringing this up but I am not some smuck that just joined this forum, I do know my hardware because not only do I build computers but I also play guitar and bass in which I have seen lots of splitters out there and they all have the same thing, --- On Wed, 10/22/08, Ray Parrish <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: From: Ray Parrish <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: [A-1-Computer_Tech] Re: Okay new ?
