At exactly which point are you asked for a password, is it before the  
Windows splash screen shows up or after? The solution will differ  
depending on your answer. If it is before the splash screen then that  
must be the bios password. I have never set a bios password. If you go  
into the bios setup, watch for a listing of the key to press. Popular  
ones are DEL, F1 or F2. As I said, never used one. You may need the  
password to turn it off.

If it's after the splash screen the situation may be the same, needing  
the password to get in to change it or turn it off. Did you get  
recovery disk(s). IF So you may have to run them to get rid of the  
problem. But it's good to run them anyway to get rid of any problems  
that might be on the computer, viruses, and other problems.

Someone else may have an answer but you should reply to say where the  
password is requested.
