My son did a system restore (or recovery... can't remember, now) about
a month ago, when the computer was experiencing problems. Since then,
we cannot start IE from either the start menu or desktop..... what
happens is that it flashes for just a second when you double-click on
the icon, then it disappears from the screen. It's just as if it's
not there at all. Mozilla and AOL work just fine. The reason this
creates a problem is that I cannot download and install my critical
Windows updates without it (Actually, I could, if I knew EXACTLY what
I needed, but I don't, and Microsoft Update only performs the check
through IE). I downloaded IE 7 twice, it shows up on the add or
delete programs list, but doesn't display file size, etc. We have
.NET framework SP1.

I feel very vulnerable without the critical updates. Please help.

TIA,
Traci
