Chris, > ok i did that but it did nothing
This is one of those cases that demonstrate the value of editing quotes. I am not sure what you did from the quote. I assume it had something to do with prying the key cap off. I think that most computer keyboards, laptop and desktop have sealed switches. If they don't they should. I don't know anything that will fix failing keys on a computer other than exercising the key a whole lot. There is a kind of key switch that uses magnates but they are expensive so I doubt that they make it into computer keyboards. These key switches I think are immune to failure, well as much as can be expected. Keyboard problems are just one of the many reasons that I don't like laptops [or notebooks]. Another is that the keyboard is NOT usually ergonomic. I just can't type very well on a regular keyboard. I have a lot of keyboards 'rescued' from my new computers because I just keep using my ergonomic keyboard. But then I use it for four computers all connected to a KVM switch [Keyboard, Video, Mouse]. And my switch also switches the audio. Another problem I have with laptops is that if the keyboard or the monitor fail, then the cost of fixing it will undoubtedly exceed what is worth. Then there's the problem with the external power brick. I have a laptop that is sans the power brick. I have looked through my pile or accumulated ones and none fits. I also have a lost PS for my Seagate external hard drive. Yes, I just don't keep good track of such thing. :-( :-) Jim [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] ------------------------------------ If you have any questions or problems with any aspect of this site, please feel free to contact me directly [email protected] Please do not post personal issues directly to the group.
