Windows XP
Using the F8 Method

Restart your computer.
When the machine first starts again it will generally list some equipment that
is installed in your machine, amount of memory, hard drives installed etc. At
this point you should gently tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented
with a Windows XP Advanced Options menu.
Select the option for Safe Mode using the arrow keys.
Then press enter on your keyboard to boot into Safe Mode.
Do whatever tasks you require and when you are done reboot to boot back into
normal mode.

Thank you, Ivan [Lucid Geek]

Hi everyone. I am really hoping someone can help me. MY COMPUTER IS SICK
and I don't know a thing about them. I haven't downloaded
anything recently (that I know of) but I can't get it to start up.
When I turn it on it comes on with the black screen the states
"window's wasn't shut down properly…blah blah blah".
Then gives you the options to restart in safe mode, normal, last
configuration, etc. Well…when I try it just goes back to the same
screen. I have way too many things on there that aren't backed up
that I can't afford to lose by reinstalling the CD. I just recently
returned to school and have 2 kids. I can't afford to take it
anywhere. Esp since I know they will overcharge me.

PLEASE…if you can help me….CALL ME. I'm sending this from
the college I attend and won't be back here again today. Leave me a
message if you get my voicemail. I will call you back.

Thanks in advance…
