Here are a couple suggestions:

1. Try a system restore to a date before the prob started. Go to Start,
Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and click System Restore. You'll be
shown a calendar with a list of dates. Pick a date "before" the problem
started and follow the instructions. You won't lose any data, but you
might have to re-install any programs you've added "after" the date you
choose. Otherwise the system files will just be reset to the way they
were when the music was playing, and all should be good.

2. Make sure your CD drive is not set to analog mode. Start, Computer,
right-click the CD drive and click Properties. Click the Hardware tab.
Click on the CD drive in the list of drives, and then click Properties.
Click the Properties tab and make sure there's a check in the box for
"enable digital CD audio". Click the ok buttons to accept the change.
You might wanna reboot. Hopefully that'll do it.

3. You can try reinstalling the CD drive drivers. Go to Start, type
Devmgmt.msc in the search box. Click the CD/DVD drive category, then
right-click your CD drive and choose "Uninstall" or "Remove". Now
reboot. You'll see a message saying Windows has found new hardware and
will install the drivers. Be sure to WAIT until you see a message
saying the new hardware is installed and ready to use.

Hopefully one of those will fix it.
Good luck,
Donk
