I don't think System Restore in Vista uses the calendar. Instead it
just shows you a list of dates you can go back to.
Click Start, then type System Restore into the search window. Then
click to "Choose a Different Restore Point" and you should see a list of
available dates.
You'll have to choose one of those dates. SR is set by default to
create a restore point once every day (plus whenever you install a new
program or driver, etc.). But, there are conditions by which SR will
erase the oldest restore point to create a new one (like being short on
disk space, or the disk space allocation is too low, or situations
involving the battery or idle time on laptops.
You can change the SR scheduling, but I guess it's too late now.
I was hoping reinstalling the drivers would fix your prob. Others have
had your prob too and it seems to have fixed theirs.

I don't think anything is wrong with your drive (since it reads data CDs
fine).
It could be that Media Player isn't registered to play .cda files (audio
cd's use the .cda file type). Try registering .cda files with Windows
Media Player by doing this:

You can register the Player to play CDA files by doing the following:

1. In Control Panel, open Folder Options.

2. In the Folder Options dialog box, click the File Types tab.

3. In the Registered file types list, scroll down to the CDA extension
to see which program is registered to open the file type.

The associated program, shown in the following Details for 'CDA'
extension area, should open whenever you place a CD in your CD drive or
when you double-click a CDA file.

If no program is displayed, register the Player by completing this
procedure.

4. In the Details for 'CDA' extension area, click the Change button.

5. In the Open With dialog box, select Windows Media Player as the
program that you want to use to open CDA files.

6. Make sure that the Always use the selected program to open this kind
of file check box is selected.

Good luck,
Donk
