Thank you, Ivan [Lucid Geek] ________________________________ From: Dale <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Sun, September 19, 2010 12:24:22 AM Subject: [A-1-Computer_Tech] W7 Pro and XP pro networking/file sync I have set up shares on my XP Pro desktop and want to sync them to my W7 Pro laptop. I have been able to "see" my XP Pro machine from my W7 Pro laptop, but it seems to be inconsistent. W7 always "sees" my XP machine as a "Media Device" immediately. However, it doesn't always show up as a "Computer" in the "Network" area. I can always search for my XP machine and it will show up. I have successfully configured W7 to sync the shared folders on XP, but it seems to be "lazy" about syncing when changes are made. 3 questions: 1: Is there a reliable way to make sure W7 always sees my XP as a computer instead of a "Media Device"? 2: Is there a way to force W7 to sync when changes are made to the shared folders/files? 3: Is there a way to see the W7 sync progress like there was with "offline files" in XP?
