Yes, there have been several exploits in pdf files. Adobe quickly fixes any they know about, but I guess new ones could crop up. Be sure you have the latest version of Adobe reader (or of the full Acrobat program) and you'll prob be fine. And also, like Ivan says, scan the file if you're not sure about it.
