However, if you use a "G" adapter on the computer, it can only transmit back to the "N" router with the "G" signal. Net result will be about the same range as before. Besides walls, obstructions, and interference, the other range limiter is the antenna. If you have a small "G" adapter connected to your computer, you will get a relatively short range. If your old "G" router's antennas were small and/or poorly designed, then the new "N" router may have better antennas and might improve the range. The best way to improve range is to match the adapter to the router--i.e. brand, N type, etc.
