Look in the manual to find out what hard drive options the motherboard has. Lots of current motherboards less than about 4 or 5 years old will have connectors for both SATA and EIDE hard drives. So, you will be able to use your old drive - no matter what form factor it is. I just bought a brand new Seagate 500GB SATA drive for $60 from Micro-Center. Storage is cheap.
