Zip drives had their own, proprietary disks - fatter and wider than a 3.5" floppy. I have an old Zip 100mb drive too, but never use it anymore. The truth is that they have been made mostly obsolete by the little flash thumb drives. Why use a separate device to record data onto a low capacity 100MB disk, when you can get a little thumb drive for $8 that'll hold 50 times more data and will fit in your pocket, and doesn't even need a separate drive to be read, heh? I would maybe keep it for a few years, unopened, and maybe it'll be worth money as a collector's piece someday. There are people who have the original Windows 3.1 package in an unopened box, and it's worth tens of thousands of dollars now. :-) Good luck, Donk On 1/30/2011 12:13 PM, snowyowl5562 wrote: > I was given a brand new Iomega zip drive 100mb > It is unopened in original box. > What I am trying to figure out is can I use it to get photos off of my old > 3.5 floppys? > I hate top open the plastic bag with all of the install disk and instructions > if I can't. > If I leave it all intact I can sell it > Tryied looking on the web site but it didn't really tell me what I need to > know > Thank You > Teresa > > > > ------------------------------------ > > If you have any questions or problems with any aspect of this site, please > feel free to contact me directly [email protected] Please do not post > personal issues directly to the group. > > To unsubscribe from this list, send an email to > [email protected] > > Thank you for using A-1 Computer TechYahoo!
