Well, smooth streaming is mostly a function of the speed of your internet connection. Go here and run at speed test: http://www.speedtest.net/ Compare the result with whatever speed your ISP promises you (like up to 10Mbps). I have FIOS and get up to 15Mbps - but the test just showed 13Mbps. I would generally say anything over 5Mbps should stream low res YouTube videos fine. If your download speed is too slow for youtube you can try disabling anything else that might be using your connection - like other browser windows, and P2P apps that are uploading, any torrent apps you've got running. Malware and adware are also famous for slowing down your connection speed. Run Spybot S&D, and Adaware to see if you've got any malware. Other than that, if your connection speed is slow there's not much you can do to prevent buffering.
