yeah, but ive had issues in the past with my dj software laging and locking up dues to not enough ram.

Doing DJ stuff wouldn't tax your RAM much anyway (if I understand what you mean by DJ). Mostly you'd want a lotta hard drive space for song files and music samples, etc. A lot of RAM isn't necessary for playing music.
