I don't think putting the Norton disk in will do anything. What you
should try is running a virus scan with Norton in safe mode. If you
start the system in Safe Mode it might be easier to start a scan. Just
shut down the computer, then press the power button and keep rapidly
tapping the F8 key until you come to the boot menu. Choose "Safe Mode"
and you will be taken to the safe mode desktop. Open the Norton program
and tell it to run a scan. Might take a long time - 3 hours or more
depending on your HD size, etc.

It sounds like your system is pretty seriously infected, and even
running anti-virus scans might not be able to clean it. Most systems
sold these days have an easy, built-in way to erase the HD to totally
get rid of any viruses, and restore the computer to the way it was the
day you bought it. It'll only take a few clicks and maybe 30 minutes.
But... you will lose EVERYTHING you've added since the day you bought
it. You'll have to reinstall any programs you added since then, and
your personal data will be gone.
If you post the manufacturer and model of the computer we can tell you
if it's possible, and how to restore it to factory defaults.
Good luck,
Donk
