Ok, first - I don't understand what you mean when you say "I opened with 
explorer"?

I would reboot and see if the prob is fixed.  If not, then be sure 
Firefox is closed (and Thunderbird too if you have it), then press 
Start, All Programs, and find Mozilla Firefox in the list. Hold down the 
Shift key and click to open Firefox.  You should see a message saying 
you are entering Firefox safe mode.  Hopefully your bookmarks, etc. will 
be there.  Now close and reopen FF and see if the problem is fixed.
Repost if not fixed.  There are other things to try.  I doubt your stuff 
is permanently gone.  :-)
