Hi everyone,
I am a student at the University of Rome and is the first time I wrote in this
newsletter and I hope someone can answer my questions.
-
Before writing I've read everything there was to read on the project website
A5/1, but I wanted you to ask what is the real current status. In particular, I
saw that the code for the creation of Rainbow Tables is present and usable, but
not on the second step of the project, namely the use of these tables to
decrypt A5/1. This is because it is still under development?
Currently, in addition, is still progressing in the implementation of rainbow
tables, or the project is in a next step?
-
The documents about the project A5 /1 that I could find are the web site and
the slide of Karsten and Chris at 26C3 in Berlin. Because I'm very interested
in this project and understand the weaknesses of A5/1, can someone tell me
where can I find more document (more detailed) on how these tables are
generated and how they can be used to attack a code book? On which of the many
theoretical attacks to cipher A5/1 is based the project A5/1?
-
I will start to produce Rainbow Table, but according to your knowledge, I can
(or is it not indicate) use a Ubuntu system virtualized on a MacBookPro which
has a NVIDIA GeForce 9400M?
-
I thank in advance all those who answer me, and I apologize if my English is
not perfect.
-
Greetings
-
Federico Battaglia
