Actually, if you can get a 4 disk setup with NCQ, disk access time is ~ 35 seconds for searching a single TDMA burst, and you almost certainly need a GPU to keep up with the disks. Single burst search times of 35 seconds is very doable on a standard AMD based machine with a Radeon HD 5770 or similar. Just be aware of the controller issue I mentioned in a previous mail. If we want to compete with commercial solutions (< 1 second crack times), a non bitsliced low latency GPU kernel will be needed as well as multiple GPUs. But crack times down to 10 seconds should be within the reach of Kraken with the current code on commodity hardware and SSD storage.
