I haven't heard many recordings where I've noticed this (maybe I'll start
listening more carefully now) but I've found myself tending to play,
particularly, Go to Berwick with a 1&3 beat. In my case I suspect it's
cross-fertilisation with Scandinavian rhythms. There are a few (but
suprisingly few) slip jigs that respond well to this (Sprangeen's "In
Dispraise Of Whisky" being a glorious example).
