I took a quick glance at this and the problem is definitely in the original 
I started with.  Changing the parser to permit M:none is trivial, but full 
implementation is going to be less so because abcm2ps uses the meter 
throughout the code (to adjust spacing and so on).  I can set the meter to 
4/4 to deal with that, but it'll still take a while to find all of the 
places where the code calls the function to insert a symbol for the meter, 
where the meter is used for bar checking, and so on.

Shouldn't be too tough, just (like everything else in abc2ps) time 
consuming to nail down.
