It might be interesting to try to get together all the V: syntax that
is currently implemented. I've made a summary of what abc2ps does at:

I'd like to augment the little table with things that others have
implemented, and also maybe add some info on which tools implement
which parts of the general syntax.
Part of my motivation here is that, as the instigator of the abc tune
finder, I have the opposite problem from building a standard: My site
is fetching random abc files off the web and delivering them in
various formats. So my code really should at least accept whatever
syntax is Out There, and try to do something sensible with it. One
possibility is always to just ignore things. But it's not at all out
of line to think of trying to actually deal with whatever funny
extensions that others have implemented. In some cases, this might
mean some simple heuristics to try to grok the intent.
But a first step is to try to keep track of what has actually been
implemented, and see if I can make any sense of it myself.
