Yeah, but you still have the weird "coda" at the end!
That's a tricky one. It appears that some mailing-list software,
including this one, trims away all trailing blank lines and then
appends its signature. So the mailing-list signature comes out
attached to the last paragraph of the message, and in this case, ends
up being interpreted as part of the music. It's not hard to delete,
of course. But I've seen a fair number of ABC files that someone
obviously got from a mailing-list message, because there's something
similar at the end. I've gotten a few email messages from users of my
abc tune finder that comment on this.
It's one of several reasons for arguing for an explicit end-of-tune
marker. I suppose it would be difficult to add this to abc now,
though. And, considering how many people can't be bothered to type
"X:1" at the start of their tunes, it's unlikely we could get it used
even if we did decree it part of the language.
Maybe we need to start telling people to always add a bit of non-abc
text after any tune they post to a list, so that such signatures will
be added to that text and not to the tune.
I'd bet that whoever thought of the idea of stripping off trailing
blank lines thought s/he was doing something pretty clever. It
probably saves 2 or 3 bytes of network bandwidth in every message.
And then the users have to spend their own time discovering and
editing the subtle damage that this does to messages like these.
As a test, I'll add a few blank lines after this:
