Since abc files are so small (typically 200 - 300 bytes per tune), why not
please everybody by duplicating them and giving the users the opportunity
to download either the .abc version or the .txt version?  It would need
a little explanation on the site, but abc users aren't actually stupid,
and could be relied upon to make their own choices if presented with the
information.

I'd go further here.  I think applications which deal exclusively or
primarily with abc should always display the whole contents of the file.
I would exclude programs which operate with other formats and only import
abc, but thyen such applications are not really suitable for use as helper
applications with a browser.
