Indeed. But I (and many others) don't, especially in something like 
DADGAD, where I'm more likely to whack a big open D chord (000200) and
tune until it 'sounds right'. At which point, it would not suprise me at 
all to discover that the A:D ratios are a lot closer to 3:2 than 
even-temperament would produce.
