Actually the frets on a good guitar should *not* be *strictly* logarithmic.
The first fret space should be a tad long to allow for the fact that the
string gets stretched a little going from open to fretted (the stretch for
all the other frets should be the same if the neck has the ideal curve in
it), the higher frets should be closed up just a tad to allow for the
average stiffness of strings. In other words, a good guitar maker will
discover his fret spacings by doing a bit of experimental physics and
measuring the intonation he gets rather than pure maths, which is no more
than a good starting point. (It would not surprise me if there were several
other effects too, but actual measurement includes them all).
