I don't see anything wrong with having reasonable defaults for
output filenames.  The way the C compiler does.  If your operating
system lets random users overwrite important files without having
special permissions, any program can work as a virus.  And the
reasonable default would be to have

        T:/etc/passwd

produce:

        /etc/passwd.mid
