There have been many proposals for V: in ABC, but as it seems the
standard advances very slowly, I would just ask Phil about its comment in
the 'Shingly Beach...s' thread:

Do you really think that:
V:1 D | G4 c4 | Bd cA F2 D2 | ...
is less readable than:
[V:1] D | G4 c4 | Bd cA F2 D2 | ...
?
