V:1
D | G4 c4 | Bd cA F2 D2 | ...
(which was what I was discussing) because that spreads the tune out vertically
by inserting an extra line between each voice, so it's not as easy to compare
the corresponding notes in different voices. I do suggest in the BarFly
documentation that users should use this syntax for tunes which are to be
uploaded, for the sake of compatibility.
[V:1] D | G4 c4 | Bd cA F2 D2 | ... doesn't currently work in BarFly,
although I probably will implement it as a third alternative. What worries
me about the use of an inline field for V: is that it is an invitation to
people to put [V:2] in the middle of a line. After all, that's what inline
fields are for. In this case, however, it makes no sense at all to change
voices in mid-line.
