Some comments/questions:

Do the brackets above some notes indicate ligatures in the original?

In the example the problem occurs due to rests of longa length.
Should these be drawn like brevis rests, but twice as high?

I have checked all tablature facsimiles in my posession that use
note heads (all >= 1600: Francisque, Vallet, Ballard, Fuhrmann, Mertel)
The longest note in these books is a whole note.
