I just realized that a big part of the problem was that we had downloaded a bunch of tunes in GIF format ... thus the low-res of some of them. But even the spacing in some of the PDF's I've downloaded is a bit tight. Overall, though, I'm amazed at how well abc and its conversion tools work.
