What methods are best for specifying note and measure length for music converted from midi with midi2abc? I have not had a lot of success with that. It's ok if the music comes out with really short notes-- I can fix that by hand (or with abc2abc) very easily. What is more of a problem is when all the measures are double length (that is, each measure has two measures-worth of notes in it)-- fixing that by hand seems like more hassle than doing all the data-entry manually. I haven't had success using -b to specify the number of bars I want, even in a simple case where there are no repeats and I know I'm getting the number of bars right. By specifying a fast tempo with -Q I can sometimes force a smaller number of notes per measure, but it doesn't always work the way I want. I know there is a way to halve or double note lengths with abc2abc, but I don't know of a way to change measure length. If there is a way, I'd be delighted to know about it!

Thanks,
Joyce Wilson
