Spell check broken in Windows

Today I (on Windows NT) did a "make distribution", ran the setup program,
and loaded AbiWord. Spell check now considers every word to be misspelled
except for words with numbers or in all caps (which are set to be ignored
in the preferences). Also, single letters are not considered to be
misspelled ("a" ,"b", etc), but other than that everything is counted as a
misspelling.

Anybody else experiencing this behavior?

Actually, looking back it seems to have been broken since Tuesday.
