Pango (which is all Pango really is).

        I've spent some time looking at Pango for use in another
project that I'm working on that involves text layout features, and
as great as Pango is, it isn't currently designed for use in a "real"
layout application.  You can't currently get enough information out,
or pass information in.    Yes, these are all issues that could be
solved and addressed - but it means probably doing a lot of that work
ourselves since they don't need it for Pango in GTK.
