That sounds like a fine idea. In previous lives, I've worked on *cough* web
browsers which used libjpeg successfully on a wide variety of Win/Mac/Unix
platforms, including QNX.
At the time, BeOS didn't exist, but I'd be very surprised if we ran into any
problems there which haven't already been addressed by other BeOS
developers.
AFAIK, *everyone* uses libjpeg for this purpose.
