Based on a recent series of discussions, the AbiWord team is looking for volunteers to help us improve the process of releasing native AbiWord packages that Just Work on a growing number of platforms: http://www.abisource.com/mailinglists/abiword-dev/01/August/0401.html We know that hundreds of thousands of folks use AbiWord, and we'd like to make sure that many more can enjoy it, too. If you've enjoyed using AbiWord, but have never found a way to return the favor and help the AbiWord community, then this just might be your lucky day. I'll be posting a series of messages today listing a number of roles we're trying to fill, in the following areas: - packagers - testers - writers - evangelists All of these jobs are focused on the days just before a release. We've tried to define the jobs narrowly enough so that when things are running smoothly, none of the jobs should take more than a few hours at a time. However, we *are* looking for people who can commit to doing the same job for multiple releases. If none of the jobs sounds appealing to you, or you don't have time for a recurring commitment, that's OK. Keep an eye out for future POWs and HELP WANTED messages where we'll describe other ways you could help. Or, if there's some other way you'd like to help out, let us know. bottom line ----------- Please take a close look at each of those roles to see if one of them sounds like the right fit for you. If so, we'd love to have you join the hundreds of developers, artists, testers, writers, and translators who've already contributed to help make AbiWord as cool as it is. Thanks!
