Folks,

A few days ago we talk over the IRC about the need
of including support for some missing languages in
Abiword.

I have put togeter a list of languages that Abiword,
Microsoft Office and Open Office support. The table is
here:

http://www.softcatala.org/~jmas/abi-langsupported.htm

(if you see any mistake, let me know)

Languages that we are missing in Abiword and they are
supported by Open Office and Word and I think we should
support are:

Albanian, sq, sq_al
Azeri, az
Bengali, bn, bn_bd
Croatian, hr, hr_hr
Estonian, et, et_ee
Faeroese, fo, fo_fo
Kannada, kn, kn_in
Kashmiri, ks, ks_in
Nepali, ne, ne_NP
Oriya, or, or_in
Punjabi, pa, pa_in
Rhaeto-Romanic, rm
Tamil, ta, ta_in
Telugu, te, te_in
Sanskrit, sa, sa_in
Serbian, sr
Sindhi, sd, sd_pk
Uzbek, uz, uz_tj

Konkani, kok (do we support three letter iso codes?)
Manipuri, mni (do we support three letter iso codes?)

Languages that are not supported by Word or
Open Office but I think we should support since there
are minor languages in Europe and they are in use:

Occitan, oc, oc_FR
Breton, br, br_FR
Corsican, co, co_fr
Cornish, kw, kw_gb
Frisian, fy, fy_de
Sardinian, sc, sc_it
Macedonian, mk, mk_gr
Northern Sami, se, se_fi

Well, comments, fixes and missing languages that you think that
we should support are welcome. Once, I have the definitive list with all the
comments, I will commit the necessary changes to support them.

I'm also working on the country-based language dialects, for example
the Spanish variations that you can have of the Spanish, German
Arabic and other languages. I still need some days to finish this.

Thanks,

Jordi,
