The part you pasted was just header information.  However, the most
likely cause of problems has to do with ignoring words in the spell
checker.  These get saved in the document, so they don't get flagged
the next time.  Sadly, it seems this feature didn't get enough testing
before the release, and doesn't load properly.  

The two solutions are to use a text editor and remove the
<ignoredwords> section, and to turn of that feature in the prefs
dialog.
