Thanks Anne! Finally something that almost works! However, while at least my fonts now show up in Abiword, and many of them are usable, with a large number of them, when I select the font from the drop-down box I get an error that says it encountered a premature EOF in the font metrics file and then it crashes my whole X session!
Anyone have any idea why it's not generating proper .afm's from certain TT files? I would suspect a problem with the font file, except that the fonts that are causing these problems are available and work just fine in other X apps such as GIMP, et. al. Please, if anyone has some insight on this or how the ttfadmin.sh does (or doesn't do) it's thing, please share. And I agree with Anne. Who is responsible for maintaining the FAQ and how do we get it updated? Now, I realize the responsible parties are very busy, and my aim here is not to aggravate a sore spot, but since July 2001 how many people have wasted entire nights in frustration, as I have, trying to make the instructions in the FAQ work when they're not complete? The FAQ should really be updated! Note to responsible party for FAQ updating: I'll put my time where my mouth is- if I can help out just contact me and let me know how.
