Im not sure if this is the best answer but you have two choices
Change the locale of Microsoft Windows to English. Abiword is just trying to match everthing else. Alternatively close abiword, find a file called Abiword.Profile (in the Application Data folder usually). This file contains settings for abiword. READ THIS VERY VERY VERY CAREFULLY: There are instructions inside Abiword.Profile, read them. Abiword.Profile contains more than one settings/preferences profile you need to be absolutely sure you have edited the correct one, usually the _custom_ scheme. Change all occurances of de-CH to en-US It is a bit messy, but the developers did not expect people to want to use abiword in a langauge different to their current locale. Hope that helps Sincerly Alan On Wed, 13 Mar 2002, Robert Best wrote: > Hi there, > > I am new to AbiWord, and am based in German speaking Switzerland. > > So when downloading the program, AbiWord checks out my server, > and automatically gives me a German version, when in fact I want > an English language version. > How do I do it please ? > Appreciate any response. regards Robert > > > >
