Okay, I have checked the flood of my frustration so far but this e-mail
has bust the dam. "Diffusely constructive", you say? What, may I ask,
possessed you to combine these two words (let alone the third - "attitude"
- but don't get me started)? Indeed, so taken aback was I by the absurdity
of this conjunction that I, yes even I, stayed the wash of my wrath to
consult the OED, that bastion of vocabulary, and (alas!) I was vindicated!
"Diffuse," according to the dictionary, means, "not concise, long-winded,
verbose." How, I ask - no, I *demand* - can its adverb possibly be applied
to "constructive"?
