Are the doctors selected from a combo? If the default
specialty is stored with the doctor, you can set it when the doctor is selected,
via the combo's AfterUpdate event. You could either use DLookup, or simply
put the specialty in the combo's source and reference it there, which would be
my choice.

Subject: [AccessDevelopers] DLookup - A default value that can be overwritten
However, I need functionality where these default values can be
overwritten on a case by case basis.
e.g. selecting a Doctor would pull through their usual specialty.
However, occasionally one might need to overwrite that specialty in
individual cases. So that Dr X would normally default to Respiratory,
but may occasionally have his default changed when working in a
Coronary setting.
Any ideas on a method to achieve this would be welcome. Thanks.
