I usually just open the DSO window, switch to the drive and folder and then
issue the delete command from there. I've never had a problem deleting
files I don't own this way. The local user may have restricted rights on
the network security. Have someone with admin level rights try it.

I tried walking my contact through this:
G:\be>run command del /F MyDB.ldb

I had to do this over the phone. I believe the user typed
this correctly, but it didn't work. Is this the right
command? Does this have to happen on the pc that owns the
lock?

This happens every couple of months and it is always the
same user name that locks the database. The person is long
gone and I've been having trouble knowing what pc this is
tied to. At the site they have the multiple users using the
same log in. Normally I have my contact run around to each
pc and open/close the database. This usually works.

After the lock is released, we are able to a compact and
repair and clear the corrupt records. Then they are fine.
